Carolina Community Actions, as the designated community action agency for Chester, Fairfield, Lancaster, Union and York counties, has been fighting the "War on Poverty" since 1965 by providing high-impact programs that assist low-wealth individuals, families and neighborhoods. Per the agency's charter, "The purpose of said Corporation is to do all things necessary and proper...to aid in improving the education, economic opportunities, living environment and general welfare of the people...either directly or through other private of public organizations."
Since poverty affects the socio-economic conditions within the community, the task to reduce this multi-faceted issue is so critical to the health of each community that CCA serves. Therefore, we rely on many community partners to assist us with identifying and addressing the root causes and effects of poverty. Many successes have been realized through an execution of ideas and coordination of efforts that created solutions. The board of directors and staff's partnerships with numerous public officials, private organizations and individuals of goodwill have yielded impactful results. We realize that when we all invest resources to assist neighbors in need, the return on investment is an improved quality of life fore individuals and families. The positive impact for our communities and neighbors has been significant.
CCA continues to adhere to its purpose by providing valuable services from early childhood education and school readiness to adult basic education and career readiness. CCA is accountable for using its resources to prevent homelessness, air seal homes to reduce energy cost and provide financial assistance for utilities. CCA's supportive board of directors, staff, community stake-holders and volunteers are committed to the agency's vision, which is for economically disadvantage individuals to live with dignity while achieving their full potential. We will continue to expand our capacity to serve our community and neighbors to create new pathways to opportunities.
CCA remains committed to the community action promise which is, "Community Action changes people's lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other."
